I started knitting in March of 2004, and think I've improved quite a bit since that time. (I'd be pretty awful if I hadn't, huh?) I've knitted a whole helluva lot of scarves, but I'm proud to say I got a number of other items knitted up this year:

Penultimate Post of 2005

On Tuesday, we drove to NY to see the Rockettes, et. al., at Radio City Music Hall. Here's the lovely Neal, in between bites of lunch (hot dogs from a nearby cart). I took some pictures inside, but my digital camera has no aperture control feature,

40 questions on 2005 - stolen from Andree1) was 2005 a good year for you? 2) what was your favourite moment of the year? 3) what was your least favourite moment of the year? 4) where were you when 2005 began? 5) who were you with? 6

I Survived

The weekend went better than expected, especially with a few cosmopolitans under my belt. The Hit-and-Run Christmas Eve dinner turned out well enough, with yummy delivered Chinese food from our favorite local joint, and lots of cookies for dessert.

Knitting Humbugs

I've been done with my Christmas knitting for a while now, so I cast on for two new projects for me. This is the first repeat for the Counterpane Carpet Bag from Handknit Holidays. The yarn is some previously smelly wool I picked up from Over the R

Triangles - another of my favorite shapes!

I wanted a quick and mindless knit, so I started the "kerchief scarf" from Last Minute Knitted Gifts the other day. I knit 111 rows with worsted-weight yarn, which I think is thicker than what the pattern calls for (and don't ask me what t

Here are my completed Urban Rustic Gloves from the new issue of Knitty. I used about 2/3 each of two skeins of Noro Shinano, using #9 needles for the hands and going down to #7s for the 2x2 rib cuffs. As written, the gloves are way too short. Cute

O Christmas Tree

Sunday, 11 December 2005 7:13 P GMT-05
We put up most of our Christmas decorations this weekend. Here's our enormous (for our townhouse) tree and a display of Santa figurines. My Mom collected the Santas, and for many years I would make one for her as a Christmas gift. We put our mange

Wow - the new Knitty is up, and it's chock-full of great patterns! I'm pretty sure I have two skeins of Noro Shinano at home (I definitely have one skein, and I have Silk Garden and Kureyon too) so might just cast on for these terrific Urban Rustic

Tiger Toes

Tuesday, 6 December 2005 3:10 P GMT-05
Here's the start of my second pair of socks - isn't the Opal Tiger cute?! I'm using the same Roman Rib toe-up sock pattern...but not doing the Roman Rib part. I am following the general construction directions, since it worked so well last time, bu

Mission: Accomplished

After many months of inactivity, and then weeks of toiling, Neal's Petrol vest is finally done! I finished off the rib trim today while watching the Ravens do horrible things to their fans' breathing rates. We both decided that we didn't like the way

Snarky and the Meme

*start sarcasm* Thanks to all of you who gave me ideas on the best way to seam cast-off edges. *end sarcasm* I'll just do some research on my own. I'd love to finish Petrol this weekend. And the meme: Crazy Aunt Purl tagged the
